Bad blogger

I have been a bad little blogger!

It's been sooo long since I wrote anything on here! Let's see what have I been doing?

I got myself a few steady pay cheques coming in now. I have been doing photography work in a photo studio and I have a new web design client.

Also I started on my own new website www.juliaoscarson.page.tl It's still a work in progress but it's coming together. Lots of new art on this site that isn't on my other one, guest comment space, links spot and a few other neat details.

Production in the studio!

It's been a few days since I made a post but that doesn't mean I haven't been in my studio. In fact I have been in my studio solidly.

So much so that Im forgetting to eat and Im going to bed well after midnight every night for the past week.

Im working towards a few exhibitions coming up in the following months. That is going to keep me in my studio like crazy.

Currently, I have two pieces in an annual group show, called Look 2007.
It's in Victoria, BC Canada and on until Saturday February 24th. at The Bay Center.

I didn't make it to the opening last Friday as the exhibition is a really long drive from my house! This is the third show in under a year I haven't made an appearance on the opening night.
The other two shows were in Korea so I had some what of a good excuse as I live in Canada and was in Thailand during the opening for one of the shows.

Opening nights are great!
Wine, cheese, art and art talk....I love them! I hate to miss them!
I hope soon I will be able to go to one of my openings!

When I have my Solo Show I won't miss that for the world.
I'd go even if it was in Alaska but preferable somewhere more sophisticated like Europe!

The above painting is dedicated to my boyfriend in Thailand. The painting is called THINKING OF YOU. It's not going to be an easy Valentines Day with my love sooo far away!

This painting is part of a series Im working on for an exhibition of my abstract works. The paintings in the series relate to each other through a palette base of earthy rich tones. The photography of this painting doesn't do it justice as its a large piece with a lot of great texture. It's hard to translate that by a reproduction. It's much more powerful when your in a room with this one.

If you followed me on 30dayartist.com you will notice that some of the paintings will be recurring on this blog as Im touching many of them up from last month's project.

I changed the sky on these two urban scenes as well as a few other details from their original start.

Mahammad Ali

16x20 Acrylic on Canvas Available

This painting is a painting inspired by the great Muhammad Ali, aka Cassius Clay.

After watching the story behind the fighter I wanted to capture a part of the man on canvas.
I love the power in this pose, it is after the fighter wins in the Ali vs. Frazier fight.

Inspiration in the form of the letter B

16x20 Acrylic on Canvas Available

Today I didn't feel inspired and spent most of the day procrastinating. Once I got into my studio for some reason the inspiration came to me in the form of the letter B....so I went with it.
I like the color combination of black, white and red. This combination has come up often in my recent paintings.
